For Charity this November..

After a beep last year this time (due to sheer exhaustion from moving house!), am getting back into my annual christmas "pilgrimage" mode.

November is the time when gifts can be sent in time for christmas, and I can make the donation in december as a cheer for the seasons. Yes, 50% of my november sales proceeds will go to to elderly charities in my country, a personal cause of mine these few years given the inadequacy of social netting here.

This is also my 10th christmas charity event, marking how long I have been painting and come into confidence as an artist to share my creations with the world. It has been one long journey from impressionism to expressionism, and now to exploring abstractism. Along the way, I have made many friends and met many art lovers and creators, an invaluable experience I would not have exhanged for anything in the world period.

My online shops:
http://yenpaintings.etsy.com - 15% off all paintings
http://yen.artfire.com - use code: ART4CHARITY for 15% off

Do support the cause, and the art if you like it :)

PostScript: MERCI to all who supported the cause this November. Total contributions of S$350 (approx US$260) have been made to St. Andrew's Mission Hospital  and Kwong Wai Shiu Hospital which have been doing very excellent, patient and valuable work in taking care of our elderly that are in their good hands.
Be merry most if not all the time, and always healthy !!

November Charity Sale

Yep. It's that time of the year for my annual christmas "pilgrimage" since I started selling art. The world has gone from posting physical snail mail greeting cards to come full circle where everything is ordered at the click of a button, which keeps deliverymen busy as ever whilst many a brick and mortar store is left biting the dust. Or is there a turnaround yet?

Well, I am not laying my bets. Meanwhile I am reminded of my old Pigeon Symphony painting, the first one sold, peaceful as ever watching the world, and flowing waters, go by endlessly in time. No matter what the mad mad world turns into, we still need the comforting solace of our fellow compatriots.

This year, I am jumping on the free shipping wagon for paintings and art prints. 50% of my sales proceeds for November will go to charitable causes, which for a personal reason, will be focussed on the elderly needs in my country as the social netting is sadly lacking.

My online shops:

Appreciate the support & merry shopping, I mean clicking ;p

PostScript: MANY THANKS to all who purchased my art items in November. Donations totalling S$600 (approx US$445) have been made to elderly causes, Ang Mo Kio - Thye Hua Kwan Hospital, Home Nursing Foundation & Thong Chai Institue of Medical Research.
Seasons greetings & be happy & healthy !!

Crazy year but it's Christmas..

Yes around the corner. Thank goodness for annual holidays that remind us there is still good and relative peace (no world wars) to be thankful for. Being able to say good things to others.. even a simple holiday greeting.. to be kind to one another (no putting downs).. these little gestures are fast going the way of the dodo if you believe the world of internet advancedness where civility to fellow human beings is in short thrift..

Fortunately it isn't the real world. We are real human beings, not a facebook friend not a whatsapp messager. It is easy to mudsling, but it takes courage to praise, to bear tolerance to differing views, to show grace and kindness. I am a believer that having one good thought takes away the capacity to exhibit a negative one.

So I am gonna do my part again, gratefully, for a drive to garner funds for charitable causes. In support of the World Vision Singapore Life Changing Gifts program which provides life-changing gifts to needy children in Asia developing countries.

50% of my sales proceeds for November will go to the gifts. And if, if there is more, to support the needs of the elderly in my own country as alas, we have a long way to go in this social respect.

My paintings & photography shops:

Whatever the world is becoming, may 2017 be a peaceful one, at least until the next christmas hols come along :)

PostScript: SPECIAL THANKS to all who purchased my art items in November as well as from my Artist Charity Cum Moving Out Sale. Donations totalling S$628 (approx US$442) have been made to World Vision for 7 gifts of need for children in Cambodia, China, Indonesia, Nepal, Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam, as well as to elderly causes, Assisi Hospice and Kwong Wai Shui Hospital. A Merry X'mas to all :)

Everything but a grey Christmas..

If you have been in these parts in the last few months, you will know that we have been living in smoky haze courtesy of a certain country that has been ignoring its neighbours' pleas for years until we finally have a mega disaster of peatland fires that cannot be put out because of the extended El Nino season. It's still not over, at least not until the monsoon rains are here. A disaster created by man unfortunately can only be resolved by nature. In the meantime, the weak and frail are suffering. So it is with a greater sense of urgency that I start my annual christmas drive this year.

This is in support of the World Vision Singapore Life Changing Gifts program which provides life-changing gifts to needy children in Asia developing countries:
http://www.worldvision.org.sg/ways-to-give/life-changing-gifts/. The catalogue for 2015 should be out soon. 50% of my sales proceeds for the month of November will go to purchasing the gifts.

PostScript: A BIG THANK YOU to all who purchased my art items this November!  A total of S$293 (approx US$210) donation has been made to World Vision for 10 gifts of need to children in Bangladesh, Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nepal, Philippines & Thailand for this Christmas, which is looking to be a clear skies one :)

It's time for.. Christmas Shopping !!

It's a wee bit soon but would like to start this year's holidays greetings early, as it's that time of the year when I begin my annual christmas drive in aid of the World Vision Singapore Life Changing Gifts program since.. well, I started selling my art online way back in 2009 :)

I notice that, over the years, the gift items get more and more costly with the runaway inflation in Asia - from a few dollars to now, at least $10 for a small item, and these are basic necessities for the needy children, not good-to-haves.
http://www.worldvision.org.sg/ways-to-give/life-changing-gifts/

So if you are looking for gift ideas, consider an art gift, an inspiring artwork memento from a faraway place.. a picture to decorate the wall perhaps, or a coaster or journal, even if christmas cards don't seem to be as fashionable these days. Although I personally prefer the joy of touching and opening something physical from the mail, than to click on a gadget screen for instant gratification that goes as quickly as it comes ;p But I am digressing.

50% of my sales proceeds for the month of November will go to the cause. Use coupon code: YENFBTT11 for 10% off.

Finally, here's wishing all Merry Holidays, and Shopping, and a Blessed 2015 ahead :)

PostScript: It's a quiet year and my sincere appreciation to all who shopped my stores during this period.  A total of S$120 (approx US$96) donation has been made to World Vision for 8 essential gift items to needy children in China, Mongolia, India, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Thailand, Philippines & Zambia. Please feel free to contribute directly to bring more cheer to the children this Christmas :)

Psst.. Christmas is a-coming!

Leaves are a-changing color and the white fluff a-coming soon, maybe not in monsoon-y singa-land but hey what's a little imagination!

It's november, the time for a little cheer, the time for a wee bit of reflection of the year gone by, the time to get excited about the year-end hols, the time to start thinking gifts, and what about a little buy to pamper thyself, and let's not forget to share the holiday joy :)

Yup, it's my little contribution time to raise funds and awareness for the World Vision Singapore Life Changing Gifts program that buys basic necessities gifts for needy children in the Asia developing countries:

Do have a visit to my Etsy, Artfire shops, or ShopCity SG outlet. Use or quote coupon code: CHRWV13 for 20% off till 2 Dec.
50% proceeds will go to the cause. Happy shopping!

PostScript: Many thanks to all who purchased from my shops during this period.  A total of S$199 (approx US$160) donation has been made to World Vision for 7 items, mainly Essential/Life Savers/Urgent gift items to needy children in Myanmar, Bangladesh, Mongolia, Thailand, Ethiopia, Zambia & Philippines. May we have peace in the world this Christmas :)

A Charitable Spirit for Christmas 2012

Yes it's that time of the year again, even as the mood is a tad sombre compared to previous years.  Disasters apart, natural or manmade, let's not forget the more disadvantaged amongst us.

For this year's Christmas drive to raise funds and awareness for the World Vision Singapore Life Changing Gifts program which purchases basic necessities for needy children in the Asia developing countries, I am pledging 50% of my holidays sales proceeds to the cause.  I do hope to be able to generate a decent donation this year, as escalating inflation appears to have made the individual catalogue items costlier than previous years: http://www.worldvision.org.sg/giftcatalogue

There is a great selection of art merchandise available that will make nice holiday gifts, so have fun browsing through my Etsy or Artfire shops, especially the colorful gift sets :)  For local customers, I have started a new ShopCity outlet with Singapore prices. Do use or quote coupon code: CHRWV12 for 20% off till 30 Nov.  Happy holidays shopping!

P.s. Drop by Public Garden's Christmas Fair on Sat 1 - Sun 2 Dec 2012, 1-7pm @ MICA Building.  I'd be sharing a booth there with fellow artist, Janet Chui.

PostScript: A BIG THANK YOU to all who supported the drive!  A total of S$196 (approx US$160) donation has been made to World Vision for 11 Life Savers/Urgent gift items to needy children in 10 developing countries :)  Have a blessed Christmas, everyone!

An annual christmas pilgrimage..

Every year this time - it almost feels like an annual pilgrimage, I start a Christmas drive to raise funds and awareness for the World Vision Singapore Life Changing Gifts program where various items of need can be selected for children in the Asia developing countries. The amount can be as little as $12 to provide a warm blanket, $20 for a pair of winter boots, or a hygiene kit or food pack.  To me, these are necessities, yet they are wanting and dependant on donors. With the floods in the region this year, the urgency is even greater. It is cliche to say this but I think whatever little help here and there that can be done, please do. The catalogue will be available soon and contribution can be made directly at: http://www.worldvision.org.sg/giftcatalogue

For my part, $5 out of every $10 sales proceeds for the month of November will go to the kitty which I will then tally at the beginning of December to make the donation.  I am starting early this year so that the donation, as well as item deliveries, can be made in time before Christmas. And oh yah, use Coupon Code: CHRWV11 for a 20% or $5 discount for purchases from my Etsy or Artfire shops respectively during this period.

Enjoy the holiday shopping!

PostScript: A BIG THANK YOU to all who supported the Christmas Charity Promotion!  A total of S$282 (approx US$220) donation has been made to World Vision for 18 items including urgent/life savers gifts to needy children in 15 developing countries :)

$5 U&Me Christmas Charity Promotion !!!

Here is how it works. All works purchased directly from my online art shops enjoy *$5 or 10% discount from now till Christmas. For each purchase, *$5 or 10% from the sales proceeds that I receive will be donated to World Vision Singapore for their Life-Changing Gifts programme, where as little as $12 can provide a warm jacket & $20 can purchase a pair of winter boots for children in developing countries in Asia. I hope to bring some cheer to the children in time for Christmas and some of these items are urgently needed, do support! * Items < $10 or > $100 will enjoy 10% discount (instead of $5) and I will donate corresponding amount.
My online shops: artfire, etsy, fineartamerica & ebay (prices are discounted in the shops).

PostScript: Merry X'mas All & a BIG THANK YOU for supporting the Christmas Charity Promotion, which drew to a close with a S$135 (approx US$103) donation made to World Vision for several urgent/life savers gifts to needy children in 6 developing countries :)

christmas special 09

since i am still in a full-time job and haven't made the plunge to be a poor poor artist ;p thought i do my part to contribute to rebuilding efforts for the victims of climate-related disasters beleaguring the region of late (and i am not referring to aid for the floating posh cars in bt timah).

i usually contribute to world vision, as what i've seen of their work seems aimed at building long-term sustenance rather than once-off relief.

once upon a time, i thought i could be a salesperson, or more specifically an ads creator. i had fun doing this ad whether it works or not. if it looks familiar to you, hint hint.. it's created from a pic i took in a place in scotland.

PostScript: A special note of thanks to all who supported this Christmas Special. Am pleased to announce that the proceeds have been duly donated to World Vision relief funds for the natural disasters beleaguring the region & to charitable causes under the Caritas Singapore Community Council.
