We all delight in blooming flowers, the flourishing beauty of it all - so brilliant, joyous, glorious, and yet so brief as if to purposely make its admirers regret and grieve over their withering and mortality when it's over. Much like fireflies whose lifespan are so short (to us humans anyway) yet always striving to shine as brightly as they can in their fleeting illumination. I often wonder if flowers can speak, what would they say?And it was especially so with this beautiful pot of orchids that was a gift to me from a bunch of special friends. I love not just the blooms, the buds, the arcs, but the leaves, the pot, the decorative bits, even the sticks holding the stalks, the totality of it

all that was so expressive and seem to speak to me in a thousand soundless words.
And so I seek to capture the colour, the angles, the poses, in first my photography and then this series of 3 paintings, the moods, the language, and most of all, surely the joyous celebration of the moment of their lives. Because even if there were a second bloom, sadly the flowers would not be same as the ones that faded and died.
As to what happened to my beloved pot of orchids, and if there was indeed a second bloom, sigh.. read my musings for its ill-fated destiny. Sob!

Lovely series! I like the "scribbles' on each of them. The haphazard (?)lines add a touch of sophistication to the works in its entirety And I like the poem too by the way
